The wire harness industry is currently in a critical period of technological innovation. Recently, a series of wire harness-related patent applications and authorizations have emerged, injecting new momentum into the industry's development.
According to information from the National Intellectual Property Administration, in July 2025, Jiangsu Yongding Co., Ltd. and several of its affiliated companies applied for a patent titled "A Visually Assisted Industrial Wire Harness Quality Inspection Method" (Publication No. CN120411081A). This invention uses multiple industrial cameras to capture a set of initial screening images of industrial wire harnesses. Edge detection and convolutional neural networks are then used to identify damaged areas and determine the extent of damage. If damage is minor or absent, further quality testing is performed. A time-series quality inspection image sequence is constructed. Optical flow analysis is used to identify damaged areas and overlay degradation rates. A time-series prediction model is trained to predict damage severity. Finally, the quality of the industrial wire harnesses is graded based on a combination of visual damage indicators and physical and chemical testing metrics. This patent will provide a more efficient and accurate method for industrial wire harness quality inspection, improving product quality control.
That same month, Jiangsu Huakai BBX Wiring Harness Co., Ltd. applied for a patent for a "High-Bandwidth Communication Wiring Harness for Intelligent Driving of New Energy Vehicles" (Publication No. CN120413148A). The invented wiring harness comprises a main wiring harness and a first branch wiring harness equipped with a positioning sheath. The positioning sheath enhances the tensile and bending strength of the first branch wiring harness. Branch guide sleeves at the branch locations facilitate positioning of the main and branch wiring harnesses, protecting the branch wiring harnesses from excessive pulling or bending, providing a reliable wiring harness for the high-bandwidth communication needs of intelligent driving of new energy vehicles.
Earlier in April, Jiangsu Huakai BBX Wiring Harness Co., Ltd. also applied for a patent for a "New Process for Preparing Automotive Wiring Harnesses with High Tensile Strength" (Publication No. CN120452933A). This process involves pre-treating carbon nanotubes through acid washing, activation, and coupling agent coating, then blending and granulating them with modified polyaryletherketone (PAEK). The resulting composite material, a novel PAEK-CNT nanocomposite, boasts high tensile strength, high-temperature and chemical resistance, and low impedance. This composite material is then extruded with conductive cores to form a new Automotive Wiring Harness, meeting the lightweight design requirements for wiring harnesses in new energy vehicles.
In addition to patent applications, some companies have also received authorized patents. For example, Qingdao Shengxinsen Electronics Co., Ltd. obtained a patent for a "Wiring Harness for a Temperature Control System" (Granted Announcement No. CN223206740U) on August 9, 2025. This utility model utilizes a wiring harness housing with first and second positioning bays to uniformly organize and manage flat and round wiring harnesses. This improves the neatness and aesthetics of the internal structure of the temperature control system, facilitates subsequent maintenance, and protects the wiring harness.
On August 8, Jiujiang Hongdesheng Electronic Technology Co., Ltd. obtained a patent (Grant Announcement No. CN223206019U) for a "high-voltage automotive wiring harness with an anti-fracture structure." The high-voltage wiring harness comprises a main wiring harness and two spiral wiring harnesses designed to prevent breakage. The anti-fracture structure is filled with a shape-memory polymer layer within the diamond-shaped extension sleeve, enhancing the durability and protection of the harness, effectively preventing breakage.
Furthermore, Baoding Yiyuan Automotive Wiring Harness Manufacturing Co., Ltd. applied for a patent on August 5, 2025, for a "Wire Stranding Machine and Process for Automotive Wire Harness Production" (Publication No. CN120413186A). This patent utilizes a motor to drive an eccentric wheel, generating vibrations that eliminate residual stress within the wires and shake off surface dust, thereby improving the quality of the stranded wires. Hefei Guochen Wiring Harness Technology Co., Ltd. applied for a patent on August 9 for a "High-Voltage Wire Harness Electrical Inspection and Testing Tool" (Publication No. CN120446811A), which prevents test lead wires from becoming entangled. Xiamen Yistar Electronic Technology Co., Ltd. obtained a patent on August 8 for a "Moulding Device for Automotive Wire Harnesses" (Granted Announcement No. CN223199375U), which improves the efficiency of wiring harness overmolding.
These patents cover multiple aspects of wire harness production, testing, and application, reflecting the companies' unremitting efforts in technological innovation. Whether improving product performance, optimizing production processes, or improving testing and application equipment, these technologies will have a profound impact on the development of the entire wire harness industry. The gradual application of these patented technologies is expected to drive improvements in wire harness product quality, accelerate the industry's move toward intelligent and high-end manufacturing, and, against the backdrop of growing demand from downstream industries such as new energy vehicles and industrial automation, open up a broader market for the wire harness industry.
